The View outside of Mel's apartment is ridiculous. I love sleeping on her couch. Wouldn't you?

B&H EVENT SPACE

Jen Davis, a brooklyn based photographer will be at the B&H Event Space for a lecture on her long-term self-portrait project that began in 2002. Jen will track the development of the project in sequential order from the first picture made to present. In her extraordinarily personal body of work, she deals with insecurities about her body image and the direct correlation between self-perception and the way one is perceived by others. Photography is the medium Jen uses to tell her story through life; it’s an outlet for revealing her thoughts and opinions about the society in which we live - a society that dictates beauty based on ones physical appearance.
In her photographs, Jen aims to raise questions regarding beauty, desire, body image, and identity through a focused observation of her personal story. She has built a relationship between the camera and herself where she transforms the act of taking a photograph into a performance for the camera. Many of her pictures take place right in her home, revealing aspects of herself that are private and personal. Jen’s work is based on personal experiences that she has re-constructed into a photograph, as well as made up fantasies of what she imagines a physical relationship to be regarding intimacy, love and desire.

Seattle Sites Part DEUX

Bruce Lee's grave was more difficult to find than I thought it would be. I don't know why i thought there would be signs or at least some clue to make it easier to navigate through the unfamiliar cemetery. Oh wait, there were those 5 tourist like people taking photos and video surrounding the only two tombstones that had flowers and money laid on them. Did I say 5? I meant 4, it was 5 including me...

Seattle Sites Part 1.

"Singles" - plot - A group of twenty-something friends, most of whom live in the same apartment complex, search for love and success in grunge-era Seattle.
"Singles" definition- one of my favorite movies, and well probably still is, so while I am here in Seattle not going to see the real apartment that it was filmed in, is not an option! Here it is, proof that I am a complete dork!
Next stop Bruce Lee's grave!!!

Tegan and Sara in the Studio

I've been spending a lot of my time in the recording studio with Tegan and Sara the past couple weeks. It's really dark inside with only tiny Christmas lights here and there. Not an ideal place for taking photos, but we are making it work. I love a low light challenge.  Lots of photos, but I can't release them on the internet right now...Soon...
